It’s official - Flick Electric Co. is NZ’s Top Energy Retailer for 2017!
All this excitement went down at the Deloitte Energy Excellence Awards, held in Auckland on 9 August, and our team of happy Flickers is still positively buzzing from the news.
The Energy Excellence Awards are the pinnacle of the energy industry calendar, celebrating NZ’s standout performers within the sector. The top award, Consumer NZ Energy Retailer of the Year, recognises the energy retailer (electricity and/or gas) with the strongest overall performance in New Zealand over the last year.
The winner is chosen by Consumer NZ members through results of the 2017 Consumer NZ energy providers’ survey (Flick took top score in the overall customer satisfaction survey and was also awarded the People’s Choice Award), and a judging panel made up of Consumer NZ and Energy News representatives.
Reflecting on the win, Chief Flickster, Steve O’Connor believes that this award is particularly special.
“We’ve won a number of major awards, but to be recognised for being the best in the three ways that matter most to our business – innovation, growth and service – makes this win especially meaningful.”
In response to The Register’s questions regarding the fake review scandal of July, 2017, Steve notes:
“We see suspicious behaviour all the time. It’s disappointing, but we’re confident that bad behaviour will eventually come home to roost like it did with the Consumer NZ fake review. What’s most concerning to us is that some businesses think it’s okay to mislead consumers.”

We reckon our shiny new title is a real testament to the hard graft that our team has put into creating and building Flick over the last three years. From a wee team of six, we’ve seen our business grow at the speed of light to a thriving bunch of 69 Flicksters, and our plans to keep growing and innovating don’t stop there!
